Event Snapshot: HER Women’s Conference – Folsom, CA

After years of having to miss it, I was finally able to attend the HER Women’s Conference in Folsom, CA.

Folsom women showed up strong to show their support for themselves and each other. This event always sells out, and it did this year as well.

The Welcome

Let’s Begin

Cristina Mendonsa of iHeartMedia emceed the event.  She started by reminding us why we were there – to support other women and build relationships.

 

 

 

 

Lauren Johnson kicked us off to take us through getting clear and intentional about what we wanted out of the day ahead of us.

 

Gina “RichE” Richardson talked to us about money.  But not in a dry, boring money talk.  She made it fun, funny, and inspiring.  Bottom line: Ladies, you must take charge of your finances.

 

Afternoon

The afternoon started with comedian Kerri Pomarolli, who just moved from LA to Sacramento.  It was a great way to come back to the room.

 

The laughing session was followed with a panel discussion.

Then Kara Goldin. I had to leave early to get home to the kids.

 

Takeaways

• If ya want a group of women to dress nice, plan an event for women.  Folsom came out looking strong.👗
• If you’re looking for an event to sponsor, look to one that focuses on women.  Women tend to be the decision makers when it comes to what to buy, what activities to participle in, and where to spend money.  The brands that were there sponsoring the event and in the marketplace know this.
• Breaks- There were 2 little breaks that happened in between speakers in our seats.  The first was a stretching break, a good reminder.e. The second one was a little dance break, and I loved it.  After the initial “Oh god, do I have to do this?”. It got us up and moving, laughing, and feeling good.
• Money, ladies.  Money. We need to make it.  We need to make sure we’re investing it.  We need to make sure we know how to manage it.

I really enjoyed this event, even though I did not sleep the night before and needed to pop out various times to check on the kids. I will definitely plan on attending next year, but I hope to do things a little differently:

1. Engage in the networking portion of the event
2. Get clear on my intentions for the event before go going.  This is something that speaker Lauren Johnson talked about and it really resonated with me.
